Trauma can affect us in ways we don't always recognize. You may find yourself feeling anxious, on edge, overwhelmed, or disconnected from others. Perhaps certain situations trigger strong emotional reactions, or past experiences continue to influence how you feel about yourself and the world around you.
Sometimes these struggles develop after a single overwhelming event. Other times, they're the result of difficult experiences that happened repeatedly or over many years.
Whatever your experiences, you don't need to have a diagnosis or fully understand why you're struggling to reach out for support.
At New Leaf Therapy, I provide compassionate, evidence-based treatment tailored to your individual needs.
Trauma can affect your emotional well-being, relationships, and everyday life. Sometimes its effects are obvious, while other times they show up in ways you might not immediately connect to past experiences.
Common signs of trauma-related difficulties may include:
Not everyone who experiences trauma develops PTSD, and you don't need to experience all these symptoms to benefit from therapy.
Healing from trauma isn't about forgetting what happened. It's about reducing the impact of past experiences and developing healthier ways of responding to life's challenges.
I use several evidence-based approaches, depending on your experiences and treatment goals.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
EMDR helps individuals process distressing memories and reduce the emotional intensity associated with them.
Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT)
CPT helps individuals identify and challenge unhelpful beliefs that can develop after traumatic experiences, such as guilt, shame, or feelings of responsibility.
Starting therapy can feel intimidating, especially when you're considering discussing difficult experiences. We'll begin by getting to know one another, understanding your concerns, and identifying what you'd like to work toward. You won't be expected to share everything right away.
I offer in-person therapy in Broomfield, Colorado, and telehealth sessions throughout Colorado.
